Ladies PGA Tour golfer Johanna Mundy visited her former coach at Abbey Hill Golf Centre last weekend, and was on hand to present awards to his latest crop of junior golfers.
The 36-year-old, who represented the European Junior Team as a youngster, was coached by Abbey Hill’s teaching professional David Armor as a junior, and was guest of honour to hand out prizes to students of his junior coaching groups.
Mundy put on a demonstration at the public pay-and-play centre’s 21-bay covered driving range, after presenting the children with their silver and platinum standard awards.
Gordon Forster, Abbey Hill Golf Centre general manager, said: “This was the first time we’ve had a US tour professional at the centre and Johanna was absolutely superb. She put on a great demonstration, after handing out the awards to the kids, who were thrilled to be presented with their certificates by a PGA Tour pro.
“She talked to the children about life on tour and it was great for the young girls in the group to see what they can achieve.”
Johanna, who lived in Bedford and played on the Ladies European Tour before crossing the Atlantic to compete on the bigger stage, has a twin sister, Samantha Head, who is also a tour golfer on the Ladies European Tour.
