Course Care and Etiquette
The course staff at Abbey Hill Golf Centre work hard to ensure that your courses are always in good condition. To help us and for the enjoyment of all players, please follow these common sense guidelines:
- Replace divots and repair pitchmarks
- Rake over bunkers after use
- Do not take trolleys onto the tees or the greens
- Local signs must be observed
- Be ready to play promptly but not until players in front are out of reach
- Leave greens promptly upon completion of hole
- Whilst on the course, please switch off your mobile phone
Course Managers Update
Course report by Ross Edmonds
August 2011
The weather still seems to be dominating proceedings out on the golf course! Although there has been some rain fall (96% of 2010 Levels) due to the extremely dry spring any that has fallen disappears quickly. Despite this the greens and tees have remand in good condition and certainly the new irrigation system has proved its worth.
This time of year my attentions turn towards the autumn renovations and winter work improvements to the golf course. Our aim, as in previous years will be to slowly but surely continue to improve bunkers and drainage, pathways on tee complex’s, tree work and aeration.
During September/ October we plan to carry out some significant drainage to the 15th green. As many of you know this green can become wet during the heavy spells of rain during the winter. Drainage bands will be installed across the green to aid water removal.
The new Pirate Golf project is progressing nicely and will be a great addition to our family golf centre.
I am also considering using Twitter as a modern day form of communicating the course conditions and would be delighted to hear if any of you would be interested in this service.
Regards
Ross
